campaign manager

So you want to run campaigns…

Campaign Managers are the people who hold the direction, strategy, structure and overall success of the campaign in their hands.

This track is perfect for people who’ve had some combination of the following:

  • worked on a campaign before and want to take a bigger role

  • have led teams before but want to get into political + community advocacy work

  • have volunteered on several campaigns and want to do it full time

If this kind of sounds like you, great! Here’s what we’re looking in our future campaign managers:

  • equity-focused progressives

  • strategic, visionary thinkers

  • curious innovators

  • detailed planners (or folks who want to learn how to be one)

  • authentic communicators

There are so many transferrable and technical skills that make a great campaign manager, but these are the essentials. We’ll train you on the rest. >>>

basics of campaigns

All the essentials of political campaigns - we’ll begin with an overview of how the government works, the role of elections and the actual jobs of elected officials. We’ll do a brief introduction to every aspect of campaign committees and how they all intersect throughout the lifecycle of a campaign.

field fundamentals

A deeper dive into everything “field”, exploring traditional voter contact and engagement tactics, in addition to other methodologies employed by grassroots organizers, campaigns and advocacy groups. You’ll learn everything from navigating the voter file to structuring a thoughtful and emergent field plan.

digital organizing

The fundamentals of running digital campaigns, including digital organizing and mobilization techniques, data optimization and maintenance + authentic virtual voter contact.

branding, messaging + design

How to craft meaningful campaign communications, scripts and design elements that are engaging and powerful for your volunteers, voters + supporters.

finance + compliance

The most crucial and critical aspect of any campaign is its compliance with financial reporting and contribution laws. Campaigns that struggle to find an efficient, detail-oriented treasurer often find themselves spending much of their time and resources trying to avoid potential fines and legal challenges from obscure violations.

community engagement

Traditionally a campaign’s strategy, scheduling and messaging for different constituencies in a community is relegated to one individual. We believe that authentic constituency engagement begins with each team member’s investment in an equitable community engagement plan.

campaign management fundamentals

As a campaign staffer, we all have a role in leading the campaign strategy, plan, activities, and team members to success. We’ll train you on how to be the best possible leader in your role on the team, and collaborate to create strategic tools that will help you and your team succeed.
